GETTING A GRIP ON ADVENTURE (Part 1)

Let me start by just saying ADVENTURE is far more than physical grind sweat and tears... just in case the picture seems a bit 'stereotypical'...but most of us, if asked the question about whether we enjoy adventures, resonate to the idea of exploring the unknown, of being tested and concurring, of overcoming obstacles and the sense of accomplishment it brings. Have you ever stopped for a minute to ask yourself, that if the above is true, why we spend far more energy in life eliminating risk and squeezing it down to a manageable size, as our soul strives for power and control in every experience?

Almost 'admirably' most of us work dam hard to forsake our dreams and the desires of our heart...in the face of risk and the fear that we might not have what it takes, we settle for more manageable options and we pursue 'mini-adventures'...using it like anesthetic to numb the real pain momentarily!

BUT...something in us always knows and remembers...it remembers that we where made for more...and if you don't believe me ask yourself this simple question:

" If you had the permission to do what you really wanted to do, WHAT would you do?"

Don't even consider the 'How' yet...it will cut you off at the knees, before you even start - you'll need God in that conversation anyway and He knows it - for now give yourself the grace to hang out with "WHAT"?

The false self in you, will hate this exercise and even make it off as a total waste of time...he hates mystery and relenting control...but their is a wildness to life...that can not be tamed...Oswald Chambers says it so beautifully:

" ...There comes a baffling call of God in our lives also...never stated explicitly-it's implicit. The call is like the call of the sea, no one hears it , but the one who has the nature of the sea in him!

The call can not be stated definitely, because His call is to be discovered in comradeship with Himself, for His purpose...and the test will be to believe that God knows what He is after!... "

...Life is not a problem to be solved - it is an adventure to be lived with God...
